Nervous Habits
This project that I created is a band gig poster. This is a hypothetical pop-punk band called "Nervous Habits." I wanted to create something that reflected the overall mood and vibe of the band, and I feel like I was able to express that with my outcome.
The Brainstorming Process
As I was beginning my brainstorm, I decided to make a collection of words that I would associate with a pop-punk theme. Some of these included guitar, drums, heartbreak, revenge, angst, etc. I also made a list of some band inspiration, so I had an idea of the direction I wanted to go. After working through my sketching, I decided on creating a poster with a car, guitar, and gas station as the main subjects.
The Drafts
As I began creating, I decided on a monochromatic theme. I tried to nail down the basic layout I was imagining, and began designing from there. Upon receiving critique on my drafts, I knew I wanted to simplify my highlights and shading to the same style, and to create a higher focal point with a contrast in warm and cool tones.
The Final Cut
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the outcome of this poster. I feel like I was able to express some feelings of anger and revenge, and I was able to utilize the guitar as a contrasting element and focal point for the piece.
